OUR WHY
At the heart of the NEPA Invitational lies a deep commitment to our community and the spirit of giving back.
Just as our beneficiary Janet Weis Children’s Hospital | Geisinger tirelessly cares for children, we are dedicated to fostering a supportive environment for our Community. Our roots are firmly planted in Northeast Pennsylvania, a region that has shaped many individuals, including our founder, professional golfer Brandon Matthews.
Brandon, a native of NEPA, has always held this area close to his heart. He embodies the essence of giving back to the place that has contributed to his growth and success. The NEPA Invitational emerged as his way of returning the love and support he received.
In 2021, we lost a beloved figure, Mr. William Lawler, a tireless supporter of junior golf. His unwavering dedication left an indelible mark on our community. In his memory, we've established The Lawler Scholarship Fund, providing opportunities for deserving junior golfers in NEPA. Beyond golf, we've teamed up with the Scranton Area Community Foundation to extend our impact to local charitable organizations.
Our commitment doesn't stop there. Since 2022, the NEPA Invitational has proudly supported the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital | Geisinger as our charitable beneficiary. Your support plays a crucial role in raising funds for this noble cause.
We take immense pride in bringing exceptional individuals to our region for our annual event, creating a tradition that we hope will endure for years to come. Together, we celebrate community, philanthropy, sportsmanship, and the enduring spirit of Northeast Pennsylvania.
